Our recommended sizing ranges are based on comfort, not on the break strength of BioThane. However, your dog’s safety is ultimately your responsibility, regardless of the equipment you use. To ensure reliability, regularly inspect your leash, hardware, and other gear. If you’re working with a heavy puller or a reactive dog, or simply want extra security, you may want to size up for peace of mind. Additionally, consider using a Safety Strap or a Waist to Leash Strap as a backup connection point. 

Short answer, yes. Our BioThane dog gear is all waterproof and stink-proof.

Long answer: BioThane is a woven webbing coated in a soft PVC material. BioThane is incredibly lightweight, but also strong, with a break strength of between 400 to 3000 pounds depending on the width of the material. BioThane is incredibly soft and easy to handle. BioThane resists fading and deterioration from UV, weather, snow, ice, salt water, chemicals, and oil.  BioThane is antimicrobial, does not absorb odor, and is resistant to mold and fungus. It's very easy to clean - just give it a wipe!

And bonus point: BioThane comes in so many fun colors!

Our custom BioThane leashes iare perfect for outdoor adventures, training, hiking, improving the quality of your dog's walks when off-leash isn’t an option, or when you want to prioritize your dog's safety. In particular, long lines are ideal for training recall, leash skills, and outdoor adventures.

Giving your dog space while keeping them safe - that's what our custom leashes are great for, ultimately. Our custom leashes can certainly be used for everyday neighborhood walks. We suggest 8-12 ft long lines for this purpose. These lengths give your dog a few extra feet of freedom, but they are still very easy for you to manage.

Personally, I love using a 10 foot leash for neighborhood walks. It’s easy to shorten when I need to, but still gives my dog plenty of room to explore and walk at his natural pace! 

Each piece of BioThane gear is custom made to order. BioThane gear production lead time can range from 2-10 business days. This does not include shipping/transit time. 

Custom BioThane Leashes and all other BioThane gear typically ship within 5-10 business days. Lead times may be shorter or longer depending on order volume and time of year.

Each piece of BioThane gear is handmade to order to your specifications. Our array of custom options makes it very difficult to restock items that are returned to us. As such, all returns of custom BioThane gear (except Quick Ship Leashes) are subject to a 15% restocking fee. No restocking fee is applied if you select store credit during the return process. 

Our custom-made products allow you to choose 2+ colors. With all of our color options, we understand that it’s hard to choose! Due to the hundreds of possible color and leash combos, we’re not able to offer a photo preview of every leash color.

We guarantee our products against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product. Warranty applies to original, unaltered items only. Our warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, chewing, accidental damage, and cosmetic changes over time. International orders are shipped via USPS and rates are determined by USPS service selected and package weight. We recommend selecting Priority Mail International or Priority Mail Express International so that your order includes tracking. 

International delivery times vary and may be significantly delayed due to customs processing.
