BioThane® is exceptionally strong for its weight, with a minimum 1,000 lb break strength per inch of width. An intact BioThane leash paired with quality hardware will hold up to even the strongest pullers. That said, BioThane (like any leash material) is not chew‑proof - it’s engineered for tensile force, not teeth. Please don’t leave any dog unattended while wearing a leash. If chewing happens, reach out - we may be able to repair or offer a discounted replacement.

Leash Width: Choose based on your dog size and preferred leash feel:

• 3/8" - Small dogs (under 30 lb). Light in hand yet strong.
• 1/2" - Small-medium (up to 60 lb) or anyone who prefers a lighter feel.
• 3/4" - Medium-large (60+ lb), strong pullers, or for a more “traditional” leash hand feel.

Leash Length (activity guidance):

• 4 ft : Short car-to-trail transfers or ultra close quarters.
• 6 ft : Standard leash length.
• 8, 10, or 12 ft : Our most popular everyday lengths; give your dog freedom while keeping them safe.
• 15 ft - Perfect for hiking, decompression walks, and recall practice.
• 20 ft - Great for beach trips, camping, and travel - extra room to roam while staying safe.
• 30 ft - Sniffaris, big open fields, SniffSpots, and backyards. Not advised for beginners.

New to long lines? Start with something just a few feet longer than your current leash (e.g., 6 ft → 10 ft), then increase length as you and your dog get comfortable.

To clean your leash, soak in warm soapy water, gently clean with a towel or sponge, rinse and dry. Always rinse your leash and hardware with fresh water after a beach trip. Store your gear dry and in an area out of the sun (to reduce UV damage) with good ventilation.

To keep your brass clip working well, periodically clean and then add a few drops of penetrating oil such as WD-40 into the clasp/spring mechanism and open and close multiple times to help clear gunk.

Brass hardware will not rust but may develop a patina over time (can be cleaned/polished); black hardware will show cosmetic wear over time and/or rust if stored wet.

All leashes are handcrafted to order; Quick Ship Leashes ship within 2-5 business days and Custom Leashes ship within 5-10 business days. This does not include shipping/transit time.

Production times may be longer after seasonal sales or during times of high order volume.

Eligible items may be returned within 30 days of receipt for a refund (minus applicable restocking fees) or a store credit. Items must be in new, resalable condition to be eligible for return. 

Personalized items (ID Tags and ID Tag Collars), treats, snuffle mats, sale, and pre made items are final sale and are not eligible for return. International orders are final sale and are not eligible for return.
