Biothane is the material of choice for many professional dog handlers - walkers, trainers, and dog sport enthusiasts - as well as a lot of equestrians. Why? What is the big deal with biothane?
Biothane is a woven webbing coated in a soft PVC or UVC material. Biothane is incredibly lightweight but also strong, with a break strength of between 400 to 3000 pounds depending on the width of the material.
Biothane is incredibly soft and easy to handle. It has a similar feel to leather and maintains its pliability over its lifetime, unlike leather, which can degrade if it’s not cared for (it’s also a lot more cost effective than leather). Biothane is long lasting, and resists fading and deterioration from UV, weather, snow, ice, salt water, chemicals, oil, you name it.
Biothane is antimicrobial, does not absorb odor, and is resistant to mold and fungus. No more stinky leashes! Biothane is a cinch to clean - just wipe down with a damp towel or, if needed, soak in soapy water and then rinse and wipe down.
Biothane comes in a variety of widths and colors, so you can personalize your equipment based on the type of work you do, your dogs’ size or breed, or just your own personal style.
Bottom line - biothane is a superior and long lasting leash material that stands head and shoulders above webbing, rope, leather, and nylon leashes in my opinion.
